Pune — Regional Transport Officer Archana Gaikwad has warned that private bus drivers charging arbitrary fares during the Diwali season will face strict action. Private buses are permitted to charge up to 1.5 times the State Transport Corporation’s fare, but any fare beyond that will attract penal action. She issued this warning during a meeting with private bus operators following several complaints received at the Regional Transport Office.
She also instructed drivers
“Do not use mobile phones while driving for road safety, do not drive under the influence of alcohol, do not park vehicles recklessly, and always carry valid documents.”
Citizens have been urged to report overcharging by contacting 8275330101 or [email protected], providing their name, mobile number, and a photo of the ticket as evidence.
