New Delhi – Despite having the largest population, crime has decreased in UP under the effective leadership of the Yogi Government. According to the National Crime Records Bureau’s, ‘Crime in India 2023’ report, the overall crime rate in Uttar Pradesh is 25 percent lower than the national average.Not only this, the state has zero record of communal riots. Crimes against women have also declined there, to a low of 58.6 per lakh female population. On the other hand, the report shows the highest crime rate in the Left-leaning state of Kerala. In Kerala, this rate is 1,631 per lakh population.

Due to improved law and order situation in UP, the crime rate recorded is much lower than the national level. Compared to 39,260 incidents of riots across the country,UP recorded 3,160 incidents of riots. This is less than half of the national average,. Only 16 incidents of kidnapping for ransom occurred in Uttar Pradesh compared to 615 incidents of kidnapping for ransom.
Only 73 incidents of dacoity have been reported in Uttar Pradesh compared to 3,792 incidents, which puts the rate in the ‘almost zero’ category.
