Deadly attack on 3 Ganeshotsav workers by religious fanatics in Vita (Dist Sangli)

Sangli 19^th September – In the ITI college premises here, 3 workers of ‘Ekta Ganeshotsav Mandal’ were beaten up by religious fanatics. On the day of Anant Chaturdashi after the Ganesh idol immersion, there was a deadly assault by Muslim fanatics on the office bearer of Ganeshotsav Mandal Shri Dhanraj Katari along with 2 other workers. Since the beginning of Ganeshotsav these fanatics tried to stop the celebration. Reports are that they had created such terror that Hindus started fleeing the area. The citizens are talking about how this incident is being suppressed. Those fanatic perpetrators got bail within a day.

Ganeshotsav office bearer Shri Dhanraj Katari gave the details

“Ekta Yuva Mitra Ganeshotsav Mandal organised Ganeshotsav like every year. The fanatic Muslims started threatening us with instructions that we should not set up pandal or even if we did so, we should not play devotional songs at the time of namaz. Not to perform Aarati and use loudspeakers at the time of Aarati.”

“On 8th September after the immersion of Ganesh idol, the same night the Muslim fanatics assaulted me with sword, sickle, and strong lathis. My brother Raj Amar Katari and Shri Ganesh Kamble shouted for help and freed me.”

“In this assault I have had deep wound on my head. There are 38 stitches for the wound. My hand has fractured.”

“My friend and associate Mr Harshad Ghadge and one more worker, were assaulted by the fanatics.”

“After this assault we are getting harassed by the mob and being pressurised.”

“Even though it was a serious assault the accused got bail within a day. The Police should have taken stringent action on them. After they got bail, they took out a rally through Vita city and burst firecrackers.”

Though it was a deadly assault the Police did not invoke Section 307

The Police registered various crimes under various Sections against the attackers, but they did not register ‘mob lynching’ and deadly attack with the intention to murder under the section 307. Not only that, though there were 20 attackers the Police registered case against only 8. This shows that the Police is lenient towards the fanatic Muslims.

Rahim Raj Quadari, jameer Mujavar, Rahim Mujavar, kaif Mulla, Husain Mulla, Sohail Patel, Yaseen Mujavar, Nawaz Mujavar and 30 to 40 more from Tipu Sultan gang.

Conspiracy to terrorise Hindus to create a Muslim majority area – Opinion of the local Hindus

Those Hindus who reside in the area around ITI college are terrorised and compelled to flee, so that it becomes a Muslim majority area. This is the sole purpose of this terror, the local Hindus feel. After the attack when the workers of Ekta Ganesh Mandal lodged a complaint with the Police, the Police took their own time to register the complaint. They registered ambiguous complaints.
