1. On the first day of the film, Kanhaiyalal’s two sons watched the film in the cinema hall. They had placed a photograph of their father Kanhaiyalal on the seat between them. Both sons burst into tears after watching the scene of Kanhaiyalal’s murder.
2. All the viewers in the cinema hall paid tribute to Kanhaiyalal. Kanhaiyalal’s wife did not come to the cinema hall saying, ‘She would not be able to watch the film’.
3. Javed Mohammed, an accused in the Kanhaiyalal murder case, had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the release of the film. Due to this, the Court had earlier stayed the release of the film; however, after the hearing, the Court ruled that there was no need to stop the release, as there was nothing objectionable in the film. After that, the film was released
What is the film based on ?
On June 28th, 2022, Kanhaiyalal was murdered by some Muslims in his shop in Udaipur (Rajasthan). The murder was committed by fanatics for supporting BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s alleged offensive statement about the Prophet Muhammad. The film is based on that incident. Maulana Arshad Madani, president of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind organization, had filed a petition in the Court to ban the film. After this, 61 scenes from the film were deleted. Riyaz Attari and Ghaus Mohammed, the accused in the Kanhaiyalal murder case, have not yet been sentenced.
