Muslims capture Kondhwa area of Pune city

Fear of growing influence of Islamic ideology in the area having an adverse effect on the younger generation

Pune – Hindus are expressing concern about the rise of religious fundamentalism in the Kondhwa area of the city. This area has become Muslim-dominated in the last few years. With the increasing population of Muslims in the Kondhwa area, the influence of Islamic ideology is increasing. Islam is also being spread through social media in this area. There are fears that this ideology is having an adverse effect on the younger generation. A young woman living in the Kondhwa area had posted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ on her social media account. This young woman was writing posts in support of Pakistan on Instagram. (It is necessary to find out where she got the courage to do so – Editor). The growing radicalism in Kondhwa has made it difficult for the administration to maintain law and order.

Muslim graveyard on the playground in Hindu settlement

Government land was reserved for the construction of a playground for the Hindu community in Kondhwa; however, the ground was converted into a Muslim cemetery. This ground was islagiven to some Hindu complexes in Kondhwa. Hindu organizations have objected and filed a complaint in this matter. There are Hindu complexes around this plot and thousands of Hindu families live here. There are also many Hindu temples in this area and the construction of a cemetery for the Muslim community here may cause religious harm to the residents, says a letter written by ‘Raviraj Colorado Co-op Housing Society’.
