On the first day of the Rath Yatra, that is on the 27th of June the crowd had gathered near the Palace of Gajpati Divya Sanghdev for the ‘Pahadi’ ceremony. The administration found it difficult to control the crowds. This created confusion and stampede in the people gathered there. Last year too there had been a stampede and a devotee had been died in it.
Editorial PerspectiveThis means that the Administration did not learn any lessons from last years’ incident. The government should immediately imprison the administrative officers who were not able to control the crowd. |
