Jagannath Puri (Odisha) – On 27.06.2025, Ratha Yatra of Bhagawan Jagannath was taken out with a lot of enthusiasm in an atmosphere full of divinity. The world famous Ratha yatra in Puri started at 4.00 p.m. Similarly, Ratha Yatra was also taken out in Karnavati, Udaipur, Varanasi, Kolkata, Bhagyanagar etc in a traditional manner. Central Home Minister Amit Shah joined the Ratha Yatra at Karnavati. Prime Minister Modi has extended greetings to the citizens on this occasion.

Jagannathpuri : The chariots of Bhagawan Jagannath, Bhagawan Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra were started to be drawn at 4.00 p.m. Before that, at 3.00 p.m. Gajapati Divya Singh Dev of Puri’s royal family swept the front side of the chariot with a gold broom as per the tradition. During this Yatra, devotees draw the grand chariots of the three Deities, Bhagawan Jagannath, His brother Bhagawan Balabhadra and sister Goddess Subhadra to the Gundicha Temple which is at a distance of about 3 km. The Deities stay here for nine days in the residence of their maternal aunty and then, they return. BJP’s local MP Sambit Patra also joined the Ratha Yatra.

Elephant running amok creates a stampede-like situation at Karnavati !

Three idols were taken on chariot between 5.00 a.m. and 6.00 a.m. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel kept a gold broom in front of the chariot. The Yatra went on till 8.00 p.m. The sound of DJ led to an elephant running amok up to about 100 metres. It created a stampede-like situation. One devotee was injured but the Forest Department’s employees managed to have control over the elephant immediately.

Udaipur

Bhagawan Jagannath was taken in a silver chariot made from 80 kg silver. Here, the Ratha yatra covers a distance of about 7-8 km.
