Flag hoisting ceremony of the ‘Sanatan Dharma’

Its radiant glow seemed to pierce the very heavens high

A Divine sight that filled devout Hindus’ hearts with delight

Heralding the dawn of the Sanatan Dharma

Carrying far and wide Shri Guru’s glory

It blazed across the firmament like a Divine flame

Sachchidananda Parabrahman (Dr) Athavale Nagari, 18th May – For devout Hindus who cherish the dream of establishing the ‘Hindu Rashtra’ in their hearts, Vaishakh Krushna Shashti, i.e., 18th May 2025, became a historic day inscribed in golden letters. On this day, the flag of the Sanatan Dharma was hoisted by Sachchidananda Parabrahman (Dr) Athavale, the pioneer of the Hindu Rashtra. Sachchidananda Parabrahman (Dr) Athavale’s spiritual heirs – Shrisatshakti (Mrs) Binda Nilesh Singbal and Shrichitshakti (Mrs) Anjali Mukul Gadgil also graced the occasion with their Holy presence. A flag represents the core identity of the Nation and Dharma. Therefore, witnessing the hoisting of the Sanatan Dharma Flag with their own eyes was a profoundly gratifying moment for staunch and devout Hindus. Vaishakh Krushna Shashti also marks the Birth Anniversary of Sachchidananda Parabrahman (Dr) Athavale. It was indeed a Divine coincidence and a cherry on top that the Flag of Sanatan Dharma was hoisted on this very day.

It seemed as if the Flag of Sanatan Dharma fluttering proudly in the sky was proclaiming – ‘The dawn of the ‘Sanatan Dharma’ is now near, and the glory of this ‘Hindu Rashtra’ will resound among all three worlds.’

Shrisatshakti (Mrs) Binda Nilesh Singbal and Shrichitshakti (Mrs) Anjali Mukul Gadgil performing Panchopachar puja of Sanatan Dharmadhwaj

Shrisatshakti (Mrs) Binda Nilesh Singbal and Shrichitshakti (Mrs) Anjali Mukul Gadgil performed Panchopachar puja (ritualistic worship involving five steps – Offering Akshata, Dhoop, Deep, Pushpa and Naivedya) of the Sanatan Dharma Flag before it was hoisted. At that time, Arun Gurumurthy Shivacharya from Erode, Tamil Nadu, recited Vedic mantras while Sanatan’s seeker – Mr Deep Patne, blew the conch. Sanatan’s seeker – Mr Vinayak Shanbhag, explained the significance of the flag.

As the Sanatan Dharma Flag was being hoisted, the sun was setting, and its saffron rays were emitting vitality and energy across the sky. At that moment, the sky took on a bluish hue, as if Deities, Sages, and Gandharvas (performers for Gods skilled in art, music and dance) were subtly present through nature, showering flowers from above.

After the flag hoisting ceremony, Ms Tejal Patrikar, Mrs Sita Krak, Mrs Bhakti Kulkarni, Mr Girijay Prabhudesai, Mr Anil Samant, and Mr Aniket Kadam from the Music Department of Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay sang the kshatrageet (a song that inspires a warrior attitude) ‘Sanatan Dharmasurya Ubhara, Kshatraveeron Utho Chalo.’

Such is this Divine and unique ‘Sanatan Dharmadhwaj’ (Flag of Dharma) !

‘Sanatan Dharmadhwaj’ (Flag of Dharma)

In the battle of Mahabharat, the chariot carrying Shrikrushna and Arjun bore a flag held by Hanuman—this was the flag of Sanatan Dharma. Hanuman’s colour is shendri (saffron), which is why the flag of the Sanatan Dharma is saffron as well. The flag features an image of Kamadhenu (the Divine cow) standing under the Kalpavruksha (wish-fulfilling tree). Kalpavruksha and Kamadhenu are symbols of prosperity, nourishment, protection, and the blessing-bestowing hand of Shri Vishnu.
