The administration has imposed a ban on the sale of meat, fish and eggs in Maihar, the sacred town of Mother Shri Sheetladevi, during the Chaitra Navratri Mela held between 30 March and 7 April 2025. Sub-Divisional Officer Vikas Singh stated that the decision was made to honour devotees’ faith and maintain a religious atmosphere.
Additionally, meat shops in Bhopal and Indore will remain closed on Shri Ram Navami (6 April), Mahavir Jayanti (10 April) and Buddha Purnima (12 May). This decision was taken following the request of BJP leader Rakesh Singh and local MLAs.
Editorial PerspectiveSuch bans must be implemented in all religious and sacred towns across the country, and their strict enforcement is equally essential. The administration and Police must remain vigilant for this purpose. |
