1. In 2008, the accused attempted to manipulate land records and change ownership details; however, their attempt failed.
2. Since 1935, the land in question, located in Gadhva village, Kheda district, was recorded under the name of Shri Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel, President of the Gujarat Provincial Committee. From 1951 until 2009–10, all official records listed Vallabhbhai Patel as the owner.
3. In 2010, during digitisation of Government land records, the prefix “President, Gujarat Provincial Committee” was removed from Patel’s name. Taking advantage of this change, the accused applied for a bank loan using the land. The fraud was exposed during an official inquiry.
