Moga (Punjab) – Shiv Sena district head Mangat Rai Manga was shot dead by unidentified attackers on the night of March 13. An 11-year-old boy was also injured in the attack. At around 10 PM, Mangat Rai was buying milk at a dairy near Gill Palace when three men on a motorcycle opened fire at him. Seeing the attack, he attempted to escape on his bike, but the assailants chased him.
He was hit by a bullet and fell from his bike. The attackers then fled the scene. Mangat Rai was rushed to the hospital, where the doctor declared him dead. The injured boy is currently undergoing treatment.
According to Moga Police, Manga had recently been involved in a dispute with a local rival group, which could have led to this incident.
Moga Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Gandhi has denied that this was a terrorist attack.
Salon Owner Shot at
In another incident around 9 PM, three persons entered a salon in Bagiana Basti, Moga, under the pretense of getting a haircut. They fired two shots at the salon owner, Devendra Kumar, before fleeing the scene. Devendra was shot in his leg and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
