Mumbai – Abdul Aziz Baba alias Aziz Razzaq Shaikh, who claimed to be ‘Sufi saint’, after intimidating and drugging , sexually assaulted four women of a Hindu family in 2019 at Yeola in Nashik district, then forcibly converted them. In this case Abdul was supported by his brother, advocate Jabbar Shaikh. The Bombay High Court rejected the bail of the accused for the third time. Case was heard on 5th March in front of Justice N. R. Borkar’s bench. Advocate Prathamesh Gaikwad argued on behalf of the victims.

Abdul Shaikh, the main accused in the case, and his brother, advocate Jabbar Shaikh, are both currently in jail. The accused had applied for bail on February 8, 2023 and March 2, 2024; however, the court rejected it. Advocate Prathamesh Gaikwad also brought to the notice of the court that advocate Jabbar Shaikh had threatened the victim women and took Rs 8 lakh from them. Advocate Prathmesh Gaikwad exposed the conversion conspiracy of the accused in this case with a strong argument.

To this, the court observed that “if the bail of the accused is granted, they may put pressure on the witnesses and obstruct the judicial process. Due to the serious nature of the torture, no relief can be given to the accused”. The investigation in the case has been completed and the police have submitted a chargesheet to the court. The court has ordered trial of the case in the fast-track court so that the judicial process is expedited.
