Rename Najafgarh as ‘Nahargarh’ and Mohammadpur as ‘Madhavpuram’

BJP MLAs make unanimous demand in Delhi Assembly

Delhi Legislatures

New Delhi – BJP MLA from Najafgarh Neelam Pehelwan on Thursday proposed the idea of changing the constituency name to ‘Nahargarh’ in the Delhi Assembly. Claiming that the change has been in the works for a few years, Ms. Pehelwan said that, “Najafgarh faced many challenges under the Mughal rule during Shah Alam II’s time. During the revolt of 1857, Raja Nahar Singh fought and included the Najafgarh region in Delhi’s territory. We have been trying for a long time to change the name from Najafgarh to Nahargarh.”  Following her proposal, R.K. Puram’s BJP MLA Anil Sharma raised the issue of changing the name of a village in his Assembly constituency from ‘Mohammadpur’ to ‘Madhavpuram’. This comes after Mustafabad MLA Mohan Singh Bisht had declared that he would propose to rename his constituency to ‘Shiv Puri’ or ‘Shiv Vihar’ once he formally assumed office.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Along with this, the Hindus should demand to rename Delhi as ‘Indraprastha’ till this change is made.
  • Instead of MLAs from each state demanding that villages, cities, districts, etc. named after Islamic invaders be given Hindu names, the Union Government should once and for all promulgate an ordinance in that direction and put an end to the demand of all Hindus and do justice to history.
