Bilateral cricket matches between India and Pakistan cannot happen without peace at the border : Sunil Gavaskar

Dubai (UAE) – Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has expressed that bilateral cricket tournaments between India and Pakistan can only resume when both governments ensure peace at the border. The last bilateral series between the two teams was played in the 2012-13.

Gavaskar further said,

I’m pretty certain there will be some back-channel connections going on. But you want to see what’s happening both on the ground and off the ground because of the fact that there are incursions we hear about. That’s the reason why the Indian Government is saying, ‘Look, maybe until all that stops, we should not even look at having or talking about anything’.

Editorial Perspective

How many Indian cricketers have openly made such statements over the years ? Most players represent India in cricket but refrain from speaking out against Pakistan’s terrorism, and the public too never asks them about it !
