Doordarshan refuses telecast of biopic of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, founder of Aligarh Muslim University

New Delhi – A biopic based on the life of Aligarh Muslim University’s founder Sir Syed Ahmed Khan (1817-1898) launched on an International level on the OTT (OTT means an APP named ‘Over the Top’ which is used to see film, serial, and other programs) platform. But Doordarshan (Prasar Bharati) refused to broadcast it on OTT. Aligarh Muslim University’s Chancellor Naima Khatoon Khan recently launched the film ‘Sir Syed Ahmed Khan: The Messiah’

Producer and the biopic’s main protagonist Shoaib Chaudhary said, “A serial that I produced for DD ran for one the longest periods in DD’s history. Shockingly, my biopic on Sir Syed has failed to qualify for streaming on the national public broadcasting’s OTT platform. It seems DD has rejected my proposal to please its political masters.”

Editorial Perspectives

  • Indians should always remember that Syed Ahmed Khan was the first person who raised the demand for the Partition of India so that Muslims could get a separate country. Maybe that is why Doordarshan refused to telecast a film based on his life, and if so then it is necessary to support the decision.
  • Now that Doordarshan has refused, if any secularist objects to the decision, then the public should question him for supporting a person who had demanded the partition of the country based on religion.
