(Kalpavasis are devotees who observe religious vows on the banks of the Ganga during the Kumbha Mela.)

Prayagraj – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued clear instructions to the police and administration not to obstruct Kalpavasis leaving the Maha Kumbha region in any way. Vehicles carrying Kalpavasis should be allowed to exit the Maha Kumbha area without any hindrance. Following this directive, the police have stopped restricting vehicles from February 13.
After the Chief Minister’s orders, the Prayagraj Mela Authority has displayed digital signboards in the Maha Kumbha region, requesting cooperation in facilitating the departure of Kalpavasis and saints from the Akharas. More than 1 million Kalpavasis participated in the Maha Kumbha festival, which concluded on February 12. Consequently, Kalpavasis began their journey back home on February 13, travelling in large groups using trucks, tempos, and other vehicles.
Due to the heavy crowd of devotees, barricades and police security arrangements were in place at key intersections, which could have caused inconvenience to the departing Kalpavasis. To prevent this, the Chief Minister has directed the police and administration to ensure a smooth exit for them.
