Police put up posters of 74 suspects connected with the Sambhal violence

Rewards for those who can identify these suspects

Sambhal (UP) – Some unknown individual removed the poster of a suspect of Sambhal violence from the wall. After this, within a few hours, the Police put up posters of all the 74 suspects involved in the violence. 20 Policemen were injured during violence by the Muslims. The Police have announced rewards for those who can identify these suspects.

Regarding Sambhal violence, the Additional Superintendent of Police Shrish Chandra said

  1. Posters show the suspects carrying stones on the day of violence. The faces can be recognised because the pictures were taken with drone cameras, CCTV, and mobile phones. However, they could not be identified yet. Therefore, the posters have been put up on the walls to seek public help.
  2. The posters are displayed at many places including the Jama Masjid.
  3. Very recently we have established a Police post and deployed a police force at the main entrance of the Mosque. It is their responsibility that no one tears down the posters.

What is the case?

The survey of the Mosque was underway as per the Court order on 19th and 24th November 2024. On 24th Nov., to oppose the survey, Muslims resorted to violence. They pelted stones at the Policemen. A huge Police force had been deployed at the site so that the survey could be conducted peacefully. The petition filed by the Hindus says, there is a temple inside the mosque, dedicated to Bhagwan Kalki. This site is protected under the Ancient Monuments Protection Act of 1904.
