Criminal case registered against those who posted fake posts about the Maha Kumbha on social media

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) –Action by the UP Police against those who posted fake posts about the Maha Kumbha on social media. Case has been registered on 7 social media accounts. Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar under the orders of Chief Minister Adityanath, has identified and taken action against such accounts.

Fake narrative was set by posting photographs of corpses found on the riverbanks at Gazhipur in the year 2021, were posted with the message that they were corpses of those who had died in the stampede at the Maha Kumbha. These accounts have been accused of trying to malign the State Government and the Police, and to create tension in society. A case has been registered at the Kumbha Mela Police Station in Prayagraj and legal action against them has begun. The Police has refuted these messages on the registered accounts of the police. Police have asked the citizens not believe rumours and immediately inform the Police of any suspicious posts they come across.
