The Church has allowed Hindus to perform Dev Prasannam (an astrological ritual) to know the Deity’s will. According to the local Hindu organisations and the Church, in the previous week, a 1.8-acre land was being ploughed for cultivation, at that time the remains of a temple were found. They also found a Shiva Linga.

Hindus contacted the Church priest

The member of Shri Vandurga Bhagvati Mandir Temple, Vinod K. S. said, “the remains of the temple were found on 4thFebruary 2025, but we came to know about it 2 days later. We immediately contacted the priest of Palai Bishop House. He agreed to let us perform Dev Prasannam.”

Previously, the land of the Church was owned by a Brahmin

The Palai Diocese Chancellor Father Joseph Kuttiyankal said, “the remains of a temple have been found on the church land. We have cordial relations with Palai Hindus and will continue to be cordial. The territory under the bishop (senior priest) respects their religious sentiments. The old people used to mention about the existence of a temple here. This land was owned by a Brahmin in olden days. This temple got destroyed approximately a hundred years ago. This property changed many hands and eventually came to Palai Diocese.
