Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Bangladesh’s Naval Chief, Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, has met with Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Syed Asim Munir. This marks the second high-level defence meeting between the two nations in less than a month. Earlier, Lieutenant General S.M. Kamrul Hassan, a senior officer in the Bangladesh Army, had also met Asim Munir. Furthermore, a delegation from Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, visited Dhaka and held discussions with the Bangladesh Army. This move by Bangladesh’s interim government to strengthen regional and defence ties with Pakistan is being closely watched. Given the historically strained relations between the two nations, this newfound proximity could alter the geopolitical equations in South Asia, posing a potential concern for India.
Bangladesh’s Navy Chief meets Pakistan’s Army Chief
It does not take an astrologer to tell that the collaboration between the militaries of Bangladesh and Pakistan will be dangerous for India. India’s inaction until this happens is incomprehensible!#Geopolitics pic.twitter.com/xvLIbLmGNo

Nazmul Hassan met Asim Munir in Rawalpindi to discuss naval cooperation and Pakistan’s participation in multinational naval exercises. He stated that the Bangladesh military is focusing on collaboration with Pakistan to promote regional stability. Pakistan’s army is reportedly planning training sessions for Bangladesh’s military personnel, and Bangladesh has also procured weapons from Pakistan.
A faction within the Bangladesh military is actively pushing for deeper collaboration with Pakistan, believing it will contribute to regional stability. They argue that such cooperation could help combat terrorism and other security challenges. Amid ongoing internal tensions in Bangladesh, Dhaka appears to be seeking political support from Islamabad. Mohammad Yunus is reportedly advocating closer ties with Pakistan and China instead of India, which could be a cause for concern for India. If Pakistan’s influence in Bangladesh grows further, it may attempt to destabilize India’s northeastern states.
