Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) – Vishwa Hindu Parishad has resolved to free temples from government control, no matter what. This strong determination was expressed during VHP’s three-day national meeting (February 7-9) of the Central board of trustees and governing council, held in Prayagraj. VHP’s International President, Alok Kumar, announced in a press conference that 950 delegates from India and abroad have played a key role in formulating an effective strategy for temple liberation.

While speaking about the action plan for the temple liberation movement, Kumar stated…

1. In the first phase of the temple liberation movement, VHP activists, along with other Hindu organizations, will submit memorandums to the Chief Ministers of each state, demanding that the government return Hindu temples to the Hindu community. Large public gatherings in North and South India will be organized to voice these demands.

2. In the second phase of the movement, meetings with intellectuals will be organized in state capitals and major cities to gather widespread public support. In states where the issue is more severe, VHP activists will meet with legislators during the upcoming assembly sessions to put pressure on political parties for temple liberation.

3. We are unanimous in our stand that temples should have complete autonomy in managing their affairs. Any external control over temple administration will no longer be accepted. However, our movement is specifically focused on temples under government control, not privately managed ones.

4. Temple funds should be used exclusively for the welfare of the Hindu community. To ensure this, a transparent accounting and audit process will be implemented.

5. Temple management will be inclusive, ensuring participation from the entire Hindu community. The trusts formed for temple administration will have dedicated representation for women and members of the SC/ST communities.

6. The three-day VHP meeting was graced by the presence of revered sadhus, including Pujya Swami Shri Paramanand Maharaj, Buddhist Lama Pujya Shri Chos Phel Jyotpa Ji, along with RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale and former RSS Sarkaryavah & VHP mentor Shri Bhaiyyaji Joshi.
