Declare Ajmer as a ‘National Jain Pilgrimage’

  • Diwans of Ajmer Dargah write a letter to Prime Minister Modi with demands

  • Support from Hindu Sena: Petition filed claiming Ajmer Dargah as a Hindu temple

Ajmer (Rajasthan) – The Hindu Sena has filed a petition in court claiming that the ‘Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Dargah’ is originally a Hindu temple. Amid this ongoing case, the Diwan of the Dargah, Syed Zainul Abedin, has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging that Ajmer be declared a ‘National Jain Pilgrimage’. Hindu Sena President Vishnu Gupta has expressed his support for this demand.

The Diwan stated that India is a confluence of diverse religions and a treasure trove of spiritual heritage. It has served as a place of penance for countless saints, sages, and prominent personalities who have made invaluable contributions to humanity’s welfare. Ajmer is home to the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti, while Pushkar is renowned for the temple and lake dedicated to Lord Brahma. Additionally, the city is significant for being the place where Acharya Vidyasagar received his initiation.

I respect the letter of the Dargah Diwan! – Vishnu Gupta

Vishnu Gupta stated, “Dargah Diwan Syed Zainul Abedin has at least acknowledged that these are Jain temples. This statement from the Dargah Diwan reinforces the historical roots of Jainism in Ajmer. It is not just a matter of religion but also tied to historical facts and archaeological evidence. We have maintained that the Ajmer Dargah was originally a Jain temple and served as a Shiva temple. The Diwan’s demand strengthens our stance. One day, it will be revealed that the dargah was constructed by demolishing the Sankatmochan Temple of Deity Shiva.”
