Bangladesh Now Begging Like Pakistan
Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Bangladesh is currently facing a severe economic crisis following its recent political transition. The country does not have sufficient funds to purchase electricity or repay energy-related debts. This could lead to a serious electricity crisis during the upcoming summer, significantly impacting the economy.
1.According to a report by ‘Dhaka Tribune’, the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) is unable to repay debts amounting to 43,473 crore Taka, owed to various Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and PetroBangla. A major portion of this debt—10,309 crore Taka—is due to be paid to India’s Adani Group. Local IPPs are owed approximately 16,000 crore Taka, while joint venture power projects like ‘PDB’ and ‘Rampal’ have outstanding loans of around 10,000 crore Taka.
2.Last summer, Bangladesh’s electricity demand reached 17,500 MW, but the government could only supply an average of 15,500 MW, leading to a shortfall of 2,000 MW. This year, demand is expected to rise to 18,232 MW. If the government fails to clear its outstanding dues to IPPs, the country may face a power shortage of 3,500 to 4,000 MW.
Editorial PerspectiveIt is clear that Bangladesh is on the verge of becoming a beggar nation; no astrologer is needed to predict this. However, Muslims are unlikely to realize this because they are intoxicated by the drug of ‘religious fanaticism,’ which will ultimately lead to their downfall ! |
