“I have been engaged in this service for the past 32 years, overseeing Akshaya Patra Foundation’s operations at the Kumbhs Mela. This initiative was started under the inspiration of SrilaPrabhupada, who participated in the Maha Kumbha in 1971 and 1977. Since then, this food donation service has been ongoing. Providing nutritious food to everyone is our primary goal.”

Across the country, the Akshaya Patra Foundation provides free meals to 22-23 lakh children daily. This service operates in 16 states and 2 union territories. The mechanized kitchen setup at the Maha Kumbha ensures efficient food preparation. Currently, 15,000 people receive meals daily at the Maha Kumbha, with an additional 10,000-15,000 meals served at the mobile kitchen in Sector 4.”

No food wastage due to proper planning

“Since we plan meals based on the number of people receiving food each day, by God’s grace, no food is wasted. A dedicated team of 60-70 volunteers manages the service. We receive assistance from many sources, including financial support from HUDCO, Action Tesa, and other organizations for the Maha Kumbha. Our well-organized food donation service ensures that transportation or other logistical challenges do not impact our operations.”
