ISRO said that ‘NVS-02’ is a part of the satellite navigation (direction finding) system, which is designed to enhance navigation facilities like GPS (Global Positioning System) in India. This system will provide information from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh. It will also show distances up to 1,500 km from the coast. This will help in better navigation for air, sea and road travel. ISRO was established on 15th August 1969 and its first mission was launched on 10th August 1979. Since then, 99 missions have been completed till 30th December 2024.
