New Delhi – Appropriate steps are being taken by both sides to improve and strengthen relations between India and China. In line with this, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is set to resume in the coming summer. An agreement has been reached in principle to resume direct flight services between the two countries.
1. Relations between the two countries had deteriorated after the violent clash between soldiers of both countries in Galwan, Ladakh in June 2020. After this clash, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra was stopped. Since the closure of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, devotees have been coming from the Vyas Valley of Uttarakhand to visit Mount Kailash.
2. The Ministry of External Affairs further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping had agreed to resume the Yatra in their meeting held in Kazan (a city in Russia) in October 2024.
