Maha Kumbha Mela should not be associated with any particular community or religion : Defense Minister Rajnath Singh

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh Takes a Holy Dip at Triveni Sangam

Prayagraj – The Kumbh Mela is a celebration of Indian culture, spirituality, and heritage. Therefore, the Maha Kumbh should not be associated with any specific community or religion, stated Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on January 18, after taking a holy dip at the sacred Triveni Sangam. During his visit to Uttar Pradesh, Singh participated in rituals, performed puja, and attended the Ganga Aarti at Prayagraj.

He further said, “Taking a holy dip at the sacred Triveni Sangam is a privilege and a blessing for me. I feel immense gratitude. People come here not just from across India but from all corners of the world. If anyone wishes to truly understand India and its essence, they must visit the Maha Kumbh.”

Editorial Perspectives

  • Hindus expect that the grand Maha Kumbha festival, the largest religious gathering in Hinduism, should not be viewed through a ‘secular’ lens.
  • Every day, hundreds of foreign devotees come to the Maha Kumbha to take a holy dip and feel spiritually fulfilled. Many foreigners have also received initiation as saints, sages, and spiritual leaders here, and they proudly share their experiences—something that should not go unnoticed.
