Narcotics related crimes increase in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai – The number of crimes related to narcotics has increased in the city of Navi Mumbai. In 2024, 654 cases were reported, while in 2023, this number was 475. Drugs are delivered to the youth through rave parties or other trafficking.

Marijuana (ganja) and brown sugar are being seized in large quantities in Navi Mumbai. In 2024, marijuana worth Rs 67 lakh 83 thousand and brown sugar worth Rs 30 lakh 10 thousand were seized. Hashish (charas) worth Rs 67 lakh 81 thousand and methadone worth Rs 55 thousand were seized. Also, the total value of liquor seized is Rs 33 crore 27 lakh. This year, 939 people were arrested for crimes under the Narcotics Control Act, while 811 people were arrested last year. Of those arrested this year, 58 are foreign nationals. These mainly include African nationals. In 2023, 37 foreign nationals were arrested.
