7,500 UPSRTC buses to run for ‘Maha Kumbh 2025’
New Delhi – Indian Railways (Northern Division) will run special trains for the convenience of millions of devotees visiting ‘Maha Kumbha 2025’ scheduled to start from 13thJanuary 2025 at Prayagraj. The Railway Department has decided to operate all such trains with two engines to avoid delays.

1. To cater to the increasing demand for additional general coaches, manufacturing of 12,000 coaches has been undertaken; of which 900 have already joined in this financial year.
2. The number of booking windows will be increased to facilitate passengers to book tickets and get necessary information.
3. Control rooms will be set up on all platforms to help passengers to easily board and get off the trains.
4. Facilities will be provided at all stations including emergency medical service, disaster management squads, cleaning, beautification of stations. Special attention will also be paid to the security of the travelers.
UPSRTC to ply 7,500 buses
UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has a special plan for ‘Maha Kumbha 2025’ under which 200 air-conditioned buses, 6,800 general buses and 550 shuttle services (for short distance routes) will be operated. There will be 150 e-buses (operated on electricity) under the shuttle service. There will be 550 shuttle buses plying on 17 routes, including the airport, for the convenience of the travelers. This service will start from 12thJanuary 2025 in different Districts.
1. The buses will be introduced in three phases, viz. during 12thJanuary to 23rdJanuary 2025, 24thJanuary to 7thFebruary 2025 and 8thFebruary to 27thFebruary 2025. In the first and third phase, 3,500 buses will be operated in ten divisions while in the second phase, the remaining buses will ply on the days of special religious events like Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, Vasant Panchami, etc.
2. There will be 7,000 additional buses plying in 19 divisions in the State during the period of ‘Mahaparva’; among them, the highest number of buses i.e., 600 will be operated in Ghaziabad region.
3. There will be eight temporary bus-stands erected during the ‘Maha Parva’ to avoid traffic jam in ‘Kumbha Nagari’.
