Bombay High Court’s strict address to the State Government

Mumbai – The nuisance of illegal hawkers has increased everywhere in Mumbai city. The Bombay High Court had ordered the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the State Government to take steps to reduce this nuisance of hawkers; but since no action has been taken even after that, the Bombay High Court has once again given a stern message to the State Government, saying, ‘If you cannot remove hawkers through law, then let the people take the law into their own hands and let them do what they want.’
After the order was given to remove illegal hawkers from the road in front of the Mumbai High Court building, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation had removed the hawkers; but the Mumbai Police failed to ensure that the hawkers did not return, the bench of Justice Ajay Gadkari and Justice Kamal Khata expressed regret. There is a police post in front of the High Court. The bench also expressed regret, pointing out that there are illegal hawkers there.
