Condition critical, treatment ongoing in ICU
Kolkata – ISKCON spokesperson Radharamn Das reported that an advocate representing Chinmoy Prabhu, a prominent face of the Hindu community in Bangladesh, was brutally attacked. The advocate, Ramen Roy, was severely injured and his house was also vandalised. He is currently battling for his life in the hospital.
Radharamn Das posted a photo on X, showing Ramen Roy being treated in the hospital’s ICU, and called for prayers for his recovery. Chinmoy Prabhu has been arrested under charges of alleged sedition and is being held in judicial custody. His bail application has been rejected. A hearing for his case is scheduled for 2ndJanuary 2025.
Provide security to advocate defending Chinmoy Prabhu
Following the attack on Ramen Roy, no other advocate has come forward to represent Chinmoy Prabhu, citing safety concerns. Radharamn Das appealed to the Bangladeshi Government to provide adequate security to any advocates willing to defend Chinmoy Prabhu in this case.

Radharamn Das expressed concern over the situation in Bangladesh, advising ISKCON followers and monks to avoid publicly identifying themselves as followers of the faith. He recommended that they practice their religion in the privacy of their homes or temples and wear clothing that doesn’t draw attention. He clarified that this is a temporary measure aimed at ensuring their safety, not a general guideline.Many followers and their families have received threats and are being intimidated.
