Bengal Chief Minister demands
Kolkata (Bengal) – “Union Government should talk to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, and if needed, send UN peacekeeping force to restore normalcy in Bangladesh. There is an urgent need to bring the tormented Hindus to India and rehabilitate them.” Mamata Banerjee made this demand in the Assembly. She also said that the External Affairs Minister should present India’s stand on the current developments of Bangladesh, in the Parliament.
The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee added, “It is beyond my power to talk about bilateral relations between the two countries. However, I am compelled to raise this issue in the Assembly after the citizens of Bengal shared their relatives’ condition in Bangladesh and talking to ISKCON representatives.”
She criticised the Union Government for keeping silence on this issue for last 10 days. “It is not a political issue. It is the question of Bengali Hindus’ existence”, she said.
