Religious fanatics attacking Hindus (left), injured Hindu (right)

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – ISKCON’s member Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu was arrested under the case of sedition; therefore, Hindus in Bangladesh have been staging agitations at Dhaka, Chittagong, Dinajpur etc. Islamic militants attacked agitating Hindus at Shahbag in Dhaka, injuring 50 Hindus who have since been admitted to hospital for treatment. The incident occurred at only 30 metres away from Shahibaug Police Station. The Police and administration took no action against the attackers and were just standing as onlookers at the site. It showed that Bangladesh Police supported attacks by fanatic Muslims against Hindus.

1. The fanatic Muslim members of ‘Bangladesh National party’ and ‘Jamat-e-Islami’ were involved in the attack on Hindus. On 25th November 2024, hundreds of Hindus took out a march in Maulavi Bazar at night carrying torches, amidst slogans of ‘Jai Siyaram’ and ‘Har Har Mahadev’. Hindus organised ‘Peace-meetings’ in every district. The fanatic Muslims attacked one such peace meeting.

2. Professor Kushal Baran of Chittagong University was attacked, seriously injuring him. He has been admitted to a hospital.

3. On 6th August 2024, during the power clashes in Bangladesh, ISKCON temple in Khulna district was targeted. The Idol of Bhagawan Jagannath was burnt in the attack. After this attack, Chinmoy Das had warned of similar danger for the other three temples in Chittagong. He was trying to bring Hindus together for the protection of those temples. Das had stated that Hindus were taking refuge in Tripura and Bengal to keep away from violence.

4. There are 77 ISKCON temples in Bangladesh. There is an ISKCON temple in almost every district in Bangladesh and more than 50,000 people are estimated to be associated with them.

EAM Jaishankar should take prompt action in this matter – Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar

After Chinmoy Prabhu’s detention, the Central Minister Sukanta Majumdar posted on ‘X’ that ‘Chinmoy Prabhu’s arrest is illegal. I condemn this unjust arrest. He has been tirelessly working for the rights of the Sanatani Hindu community in Bangladesh. I appeal to our External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr Jaishankar to take a serious note of this matter and take urgent steps.

Indian Government should immediately talk to Bangladesh Government – Appeals ISKCON

On ISKCON’s ‘X’ account, it has posted that they are in receipt of a perturbing news about the arrest of ‘ISKCON Bangladesh’s chief leader Chinmoy Prabhu by the Dhaka Police. Accusing ISKCON of being associated with terrorism is wrong and condemnable. ISKCON has appealed to the Indian Government to take immediate steps to have a dialogue with the Bangladesh Government on this issue. We are working peacefully to develop devotion. Bangladesh should release Chinmoy Krishna Das as early as possible. We pray to Bhagawan Shrikrishna for the protection of devotees.

Hindus should continue their agitations –  Chinmay Das

While talking to the media, Chinmoy Das appealed to Hindus in Bangladesh on his way to the Court to continue their agitations as per the plan.

Editorial Perspective

In India, Hindus are appealed to unite for their safety since there is safety in unity. Such an appeal is not only necessary for Hindus in India but also required for Hindus across the world and especially in Islamic countries. Indian Government needs to take initiative for the protection of Hindus on war footing.
