Had India not bought oil from Russia, the global market would have collapsed : EAM Dr S Jaishankar

Canberra (Australia) – ‘The international community is benefiting from India’s strong ties with Russia. If India had not purchased oil from Russia, the global market would have completelymcollapsed. There would have been an energy crisis worldwide, oil prices in the global market would have soared, and inflation would have reached unprecedented levels’, India’s ExternalmAffairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said in an interview with an Australian news channel.

Jaishankar further added that India’s good relations with Russia could help in facilitating discussions between Russia and Ukraine. India has strong ties with both Russia and Ukraine, which puts India in a unique position to engage with both nations. The world, including Australia,nneeds a country that can help bring war to the conference table, he said. Most wars eventually end through negotiations, Jaishankar concluded.
