How can Muslims go for Hajj Pilgrimage using Kafir’s money : BJP’s counter question

Maulana Sajid Rashidi, the President of All India Imam Association, raises question on the use of Govt money on Ayodhya Deepotsav

New Delhi – On the eve of Diwali, i.e. on 30th October, 28 lakh earthen lamps were lit at ‘Ram Ki Paidi’ in Ayodhya as part of the Deepotsav celebrations. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the event by lighting the first lamp. Maulana Sajid Rashidi, President of All India Imam Association, criticised the Yogi Government over the expenses incurred for the Deepotsav celebration. In response, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi countered sharply, asking, “How can one go for a Hajj Pilgrimage using money of Kafirs ?”

Is the Government money allowed to be spent on religious activities ?

In a televised debate, Maulana Sajid Rashidi argued that the Government was spending crores of rupees on this event. He suggested that these funds could have been better utilised to support unemployed youth who have pursued higher education, potentially enabling them to establish small and large businesses. (The Government also spends a lot of money on madarasas which is of no benefit to the nation and is a burden instead. Why is the maulana silent about this ? – Editor) He added, “We are not stopping anyone from celebrating their festivals, but does the Prime Minister or Chief Minister have the authority to spend Government funds on any religious activity ?” (It would not be surprising if Hindus were to demand that religious fanatics living on Hindu taxpayers’ money should move to Pakistan – Editor) He further accused the BJP of merely trying to portray itself as the ‘Hinduhridaysamrat.’

BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi responded sharply to maulana’s remarks. Trivedi stated that, “The Government collects all donations from major Hindu temples but does not spend even one-tenth of that money on temple upkeep. Instead, these funds are allocated for Hajj subsidies. When Iftar was organised at the residence of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, Kafirs’ offerings were accepted with enthusiasm. According to maulana Sajid Rashidi, since 90% of people are Kafirs, it appears acceptable to him to use their money for Hajj.”
