India will no longer tolerate attacks like the ‘26/11’ Mumbai attack

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar Warns

Mumbai – Dr S Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister, stated at a press conference here that India (under the previous government) did not respond to the jihadi terrorist attack on Mumbai on 26th November 2008 (commonly referred to as ‘26/11’). In the future, if a similar attack occurs in the country, it will not be tolerated, and there will be a strong response, he asserted. “When we talk about zero tolerance, it means there will indeed be a response. India will not tolerate this,” Dr Jaishankar said.

He further emphasized that Mumbai is not only important for India but has also become a global symbol of the fight against terrorism. India held the chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the United Nations Security Council, and this committee’s meeting took place in the very hotel that was targeted during the attack. India is playing a leadership role in the global fight against terrorism. It is now unacceptable for someone to do business by day and engage in terrorist activities by night, he added.

Editorial Perspective

India must create a deterrent so strong that no one dares to attack India in the future. Instead of thinking about retaliating after an attack, we need to establish a mindset where no one even attempts it.
