Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Bus drivers of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation are paid Rs 100 by the State Government to perform puja in their vehicles on Dussehra. The bus drivers and conductors are unhappy with this meager amount. They said that the cost of flowers required for puja in the State is more than this.

According to the bus staff, they have to clean and decorate the bus before the puja. The corporation is paying only Rs100 towards the puja expenses. One has to spend money from one’s own pocket to perform the puja.

The Corporation has allocated Rs 1,000 for each Divisional Bus Repair Centre and Rs 5,000 each for Regional Level Bus Repair Centre.

Editorial Perspective

This shows that the Congress Government in Karnataka is paying a pittance only to show that they paid for Dussehra puja. The Government has no money for puja; but has money to provide free bus services to women.
