Religious fanatics cause havoc in Nandurbar, Dondaicha (Dhule), and Jalna : Maharashtra

  • Stone pelting on houses and vehicles of Hindus

  • Statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji desecrated

  • Police use tear gas to control the situation

Nandurbar – On the occasion of Eid-e-Milad on September 19, religious fanatics attacked Hindus during processions in Nandurbar, Dondaicha (Dhule district), and Jalna. They threw stones at Hindu homes and damaged their vehicles. The police had to fire 15 tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. During the clashes, religious fanatics held placards in support of Aurangzeb. In Nandurbar, 10 civilians, including 4 policemen, were injured. The coordinated riots in all three cities make it evident that these attacks were part of a premeditated plan.

1. During the Eid-e-Milad procession at 2 PM, a heavy police presence was deployed across the city. As the procession moved from Elahi Chowk to the Maliwada area, rumours of stone pelting spread, prompting the police to halt the procession. Suddenly, a large group of religious fanatics began pelting stones, even targeting police officers who were appealing for peace. Some policemen sustained serious injuries.

2. Fanatics, who had previously gathered in large numbers during the Ganesh Chaturthi procession in Maliwada, specifically targeted the homes and vehicles of Hindus.

3. Private vehicles, including those belonging to the Superintendent of Police, were vandalized. Additionally, three houses and three two-wheelers were set on fire, with an attempt made to ignite two gas cylinders in the Navnathnagar area.

4. By the evening, the situation was brought under control, though stones and bricks were scattered across the scene. The police have increased their presence and issued a warning to the public not to believe in rumours.

5. Videos of the incident circulated on social media, creating tension in other parts of the city. Many traders closed their shops, and school students were sent home early.

In Dondaicha, when the Hindus organized themselves and strongly resisted the religious fanatics’ attacks, the fanatics retaliated with more violence. (If such unity is displayed consistently, religious fanatics will think twice before attacking Hindus again ! – Editor)

Jalna

During the procession in Jalna, a controversial statement by AIMIM’s Akbaruddin Owaisi was played on the DJ : “Remove the police for 15 minutes, we will kill 100 crore Hindus.” Afterward, religious fanatics looted and ransacked Hindus’ shops. The police administration seemed helpless during the incident. (What’s the point of having a police force if they can’t maintain law and order? – Editor)

Editorial Perspectives

  • Recently, religious fanatics have targeted Hindus by attacking immersion processions of Shri Ganesh idols in several locations. Once again, on the occasion of the Eid-e-Milad procession, these groups attacked Hindus. It’s clear that they only need an excuse to engage in such attacks. Why do the police and administration turn a blind eye to these activities ?
  • Even when Hindu property is damaged in premeditated conspiracies, the police and administration either fail to act strongly against the perpetrators or completely ignore their serious offenses. How will the public feel protected under such circumstances ?
