Chinese spacecraft lands on the far side of the moon

Beijing (China) – A Chinese-launched spacecraft Chang’e-6 has landed on the moon’s far side. With this, China will become the first country to land a spacecraft on the moon’s far side and collect samples from there. This lander will now begin collecting samples of the lunar surface. If all goes as expected, the lander will bring up 2 kg of samples from the lunar surface. Mechanical arms are fitted in the lander to collect samples, drill and excavate, and then lift the debris. With the success of Chang’e-6, China may surpass the US and other countries in building a base on the moon.

China aims to send astronauts to the moon by 2030. On the other hand, the US is trying to send astronauts to the moon by 2026. China wants to build a research base on the South Pole of the Moon. Earlier in 2020, China’s Chang’e-5 lander also landed on the moon, which had brought 1.7 kg of samples from the moon. China is in the process of launching 3 more lunar missions. This will lead to the discovery of water on the moon and the construction of a permanent base.
