In 2005 attack, 7 Police personnel were killed and 5 were injured. After the attack, the Maoists looted Government guns and bullets and ran away. In this case, 32 people have been charged and are being searched for. On getting the information about Shankar, a group led by Tumakuru District Police officer K V Ashok laid a trap and arrested him.

Editorial Perspective

It is a shame for the Karnataka Police that they could not get information about this Maoist and arrest him for 19 long years. It is even more serious that a notorious Maoist was working in the Municipal Corporation for so many years. It should be investigated which administrative officials are behind this.
