Raipur (Chhattisgarh) – A Hindu youth named Jeevandeep Singh was brutally assaulted by Arshad, Nafees, Shoaib and Raja Khan alias Sajjad Ali in Talapara, a Muslim-majority area of Bilaspur. Seeing the tulsi garland around Jeevandeep’s neck, these youths attacked him. His car was also vandalised at the time. Talapara, where
this incident took place, is known as ‘Mini Pakistan’ in the local community. All the accused have been arrested and later released on bail.
According to local media reports, 30-year-old Jeevandeep Singh works as a ‘travel agent’ in Bilaspur. It was his daughter’s birthday on 6thMay. He had invited his friends for celebration. Among them was a Muslim friend named Arif. Arif is a resident of Talapara area. Jeevandeep went to drop Arif home at night. When he started the car to return from there, some people standing there started a fight with him saying that them headlights of Jeevandeep’s car troubled their eyes. Arshad, Nafees, Shoaib and Sajjad Ali started abusing Jeevandeep. After that, he was brutally beaten up with kicks and punches calling him ‘Hindu’. His car was also vandalised. Jeevandeep somehow saved his life. He then went to the Police station and filed a complaint.
