‘Indian Mujahideen’ Co-founder Abdul Qureshi granted bail by the Delhi High Court

Qureshi is known as ‘India’s Osama bin Laden’

New Delhi – Abdul Subhan Quereshi, Co-founder of the terrorist organisation ‘Indian Mujahideen’, which was banned by the Government in 2010, has been granted bail by the Delhi High Court. The Court said the accused cannot be deprived of the relief given by the Indian Penal Code’s section 436-A, just because he is accused of a serious crime. A bench of Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Manoj Jain considered the period of incarceration undergone by him, which was around five years, and directed that the trial Court would decide the terms and conditions of the bail. Quereshi was arrested in 2019. 5 years is the maximum sentence for the crimes he has been accused of. As he had almost served this period, hence the Court approved his bail.

Who is Abdul Subhan Qureshi ?

‘SIMI’, a banned terrorist organisation, used to publish books and articles. Quereshi was the editor of these publications. Delhi Police informed that he was the Co-founder of ‘Indian Mujahideen’. The objective of this terrorist organisation was to establish Islamic State in India. In 2010, when the ‘Indian Mujahideen’ was banned, Quereshi joined another terrorist organisation called ‘Popular Front of India’. This organisation also wants to make India an Islamic State by 2047. Now the Government has banned this organisation as well.
