Cash and gold worth ₹1,309 crore seized in Tamil Nadu so far

Chennai – Authorities from the Election Commission and the Income Tax Department in Tamil Nadu have seized assets worth ₹1,309.52 crore, including cash, liquor, gold, and other valuables since the Model Code of Conduct began.

The code of conduct came into effect on 16th March in the backdrop of the Lok Sabha elections. Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahu said that cash worth ₹179.91 crore and gold and other precious metals worth ₹1,083.78 crore have been seized out of the total amount. Along with this, liquor worth ₹8.65 crore, drugs worth ₹1.36 crore, and other materials worth ₹35.8 crore have also been seized.

In Telangana, assets worth ₹202 crore have been seized

In Telangana, assets worth ₹202.52 crore, including cash, liquor, gold, and other goods, have been seized. The Chief Election Officer said that out of the total amount seized, cash worth ₹76.65 crore, gold, silver, and other precious metals worth ₹29.62 crore. Along with this, liquor worth ₹43.57 crore, drugs worth ₹26.12 crore, and other materials worth ₹26.54 crore have also been seized.
