Ottawa, Canada – Despite the Canadian government previously accusing India of interference in their election, Canada’s intelligence agency, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), has officially revealed that China interfered in the last two elections in the country. This disclosure marks the most significant evidence of Chinese involvement in Canadian politics to date, according to a report by CSIS.
Senior Canadian officials have stated that India did not interfere in Canadian elections
The report submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office revealed that the People’s Republic of China (PRC) clandestinely and deceitfully interfered in the general elections held in 2019 and 2021. Despite these allegations, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s party emerged victorious in both elections. However, the document also indicated that a team of senior Canadian officials tasked with monitoring the country’s 2021 elections found no evidence of any attempt by India to influence the electoral process. India had previously denied the allegations of interfering in the Canadian elections.
