Kolkata (Bengal) – Lashkar-e-Taiba, a terrorist outfit, has sent a letter to Shantanu Thakur, the Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways threatening him about the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Bengal. Shantanu Thakur has claimed that the letter was sent to him on 8th April 2024 by post from Hadipur, Deganga, North 24 Pargana, by Nazrul Islam Sahib Ali and Faiz Ali.

The letter is written in Bengali and says, “We are warning you that not only Bengal but the whole of India will burn if NRC is implemented in Bengal and Muslims face any kind of persecution. Your Tagore House would also be destroyed. No person would be allowed to stay in Thakurbari. Have you heard the name of ‘Lashkar-e-Taiyba (LeT)’? We are the members of LeT.”

Shantanu Thakur has advised the State Chief Minister that a terrorist organisation cannot threaten a State-MP and a Minister in this manner. The situation in Bengal is dangerous and against democracy. Such terrorist outfits are supported by the Trinamool Congress and they are threatening us. I shall report the matter to the Home Minister and seek justice. Such an incident is most disgraceful for Bengal.

Editorial Perspective

It is necessary to investigate if anyone is threatening in this manner under the guise of a terrorist outfit.
