Pakistani terrorist organisation threatens producers of ‘The Diary of West Bengal’ not to release the film

The producers allege that Bengal’s TMC Government is also obstructing film’s release

Mumbai – Film producer Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi, formerly known as Wasim Rizvi, revealed during a press conference that he has been receiving threats from a terrorist organisation from Pakistan, warning him against the release of the film ‘The Diary of West Bengal’. Tyagi further accused the Trinamool Congress Government in Bengal of attempting to obstruct the film’s release within the State.

Jitendra Tyagi added,

1. We have produced a film based on a true story. For this, a terrorist organisation Jamia Darul Uloom in Karachi, Pakistan has issued a fatwa (religious decree) against us, threatening not to release the film. Tell me, now do we have to take permission from Pakistan based terrorist organisations to produce and release films in India ?

2. Should we now assume that Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee Government is being run by the terrorist organisations in Pakistan ? Because it is they, who have problem with film’s release and Mamata Banerjee’s Government here is not allowing it to be released. What is their relationship with these terrorists ?

3. Is freedom of expression and film making available only to communists in our country ? Don’t independent-minded people like us have any right to freedom of expression and film making ?

4. Who will compensate us for the losses we have suffered so far through this film ?

5. If everything is going well in West Bengal, then why doesn’t the Mamata Government allow our film to be released ? Why is Mamata Banerjee’s Government targetting our team ? Have we committed any crime by making the film ? Why isn’t the Mamata Government
giving any clear reason ? If the Government is not helping Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators in West Bengal, then why doesn’t it openly prove it ?

Films like Kashmir Files, The Kerala Story are released, why not our film ? – Director Sanoj Mishra

The film’s director Sanoj Mishra

The film’s director, Sanoj Mishra, remarked, “In this film, we have shed light on escalating organised crime and targetted violence in Bengal. This can only be considered wrong by its supporters, so what should we do ? Films like Mission Kashmir, Haider, Udata Punjab, The Kashmir Files, The Kerala Story can be released in this country, so what is the harm in releasing our film ? My film is complete and it will release on 27th April all over India.”

Censor Board delaying certification necessary to release the film

The film ‘The Diary of West Bengal’has been reviewed and approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (Censor Board). However, it appears that the board is reluctant to issue the certificate necessary for the film’s release. Producer-directors are fed up taking the rounds of the Censor Board. The Censor Board is refusing to say anything about the film. This delay is reportedly resulting in financial losses for the producers.

What does the film trailer contain ?

The film ‘The Diary of West Bengal’ portrays the political and religious situation in Bengal. In Bengal, the Trinamool Congress Government is strategically settling Rohingyas and Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators in the State for its own political gain. As these Muslims are perpetrating violence, Hindus are forced to flee from there. Hindus are being oppressed. The film’s trailer illustrates the appeasement of Muslims by the Mamata Banerjee Government.

Editorial Perspectives

  • It is humiliating for India that an Indian citizen receives threats from Pakistan to refrain from releasing a film in India. The Government should consider strict measures to deal with the issue.
  • Hindus feel that, when the Censor Board falls under the Union Government’s jurisdiction, why should there be any issue in releasing such a film ?
