New Delhi – During this year’s Holi festival, China reportedly lost business worth Rs 10,000 crores due to India’s boycott of Chinese goods. According to the trade association ‘CAIT’ (Confederation of All India Traders), business during Holi has increased to over Rs 50,000 crore, with Delhi alone selling products worth Rs 5,000 crore. However, the consumption of Chinese goods was less this year due to citizens boycotting them in favour of Swadeshi (Indian) goods.
Previously, Pichkari (Holi gun), Colours, Gulal and other items were imported from China, which benefitted China’s economy. But now, people in India have started using indigenous products, supporting the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, and this has benefitted the country’s traders.
