
Mumbai – On 16th March, the Indian Navy rescued a Merchant Ship from the pirates of Somalia. 35 Somalian pirates were taken into custody. Now they are handed over to the Mumbai Police.

During a drive against pirates Indian Navy had cracked down on bandits 2,600 Km. off the Indian coast and forced them to surrender. The operation lasted for 40 hours. INS Kolkata and INS Subhadra warships as well as Marine Commandos had participated. A member of the ship was also rescued.
