Ahilyanagar – In a Love Jihad case, it came to light that a young Hindu girl from Madhi in Pathardi Taluk was forcefully converted and taken away for nikah. Subsequently, villagers from diverse political affiliations and Hindu organisations rallied to the Police station, presenting a memorandum. Villagers kept Madhi village closed with a warning to either return the girl or face the consequences.
What is the matter ?
1. A religious fanatic Muslim man lured a Hindu girl from Madhi through Love Jihad and abducted her. He coerced her into nikah by converting her to Islam and giving her a Muslim name. Two days later, when the couple presented themselves at the Police station, the truth came to light, alarming the villagers. Despite efforts from family members, relatives, and villagers to reason with the victim, her distressed state of mind prevented her from comprehending the situation. Consequently, the Police intervened and placed her in a women’s reformatory.
2. On the second night following the initial incident, another attempted abduction of a similar nature was thwarted thanks to the swift action of the villagers, prompting the concerned girl to safely return from the vicinity of Chandbibi Mahal. Upon further inquiry through various channels, Sarpanch Sanjay Markad and other villagers discovered suspicious alterations made to the Aadhaar cards of several other girls. As news of these unsettling developments spread to neighbouring villages such as Niwdunge, Ghatshiras Tisgaon, Parewadi, Mandwa Shirapur, and Dhamangaon, the entire region became inflamed with anger.
Many serious cases revealed
Vidya Gadekar, District President of BJP Mahila Aghadi and activists of other organisations visited the family. Upon gathering additional information from the villagers, numerous serious cases emerged. It became apparent that the girl had been coerced into conversion through deceitful means. The enraged villagers expressed their frustration, highlighting the lack of action from the administration despite the grave nature of conversions occurring in Pathardi Taluk.
In response to these developments, a Gramsabha was convened in Madhi on 6th March, spearheaded by villagers, the entire Hindu community, and other organisations. During this assembly, villagers expressed their grievances vehemently and emphasised the need for a decisive strategy to combat this issue. It was unanimously agreed upon that ownership of the gifted temple land should be transferred to the temple committee or registered with the Grampanchayat, and all financial transactions involving the individuals responsible should be halted.
