New Delhi – ‘Ordinary people are not very responsive to caste-based politics. In politics, any strategy works only once and cannot be repeated. The strategy of caste-based politics prevailed during the Mandal Commission; however, now it will not get special importance’, election strategist Prashant Kishor said. Prashant Kishor expressed his opinion as a response to Congress’ demand of nationwide caste-based survey taking the caste-based survey in Bihar as a basis.
Prashant Kishor further said,
States like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar talk more of caste-based politics, but people there also vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Even in these States, no one votes based on the caste of the Prime Minister. He is voted on the basis of his leadership and personality.
Voters do not vote for BJP; they vote for Prime Minister Modi. How many people will be voting only by seeing Modi’s caste ?
Many believe that Modi is a self-made leader. On the other hand, voters feel that Rahul Gandhi is a symbol of dynastic politics. There is a perception that Modi is honest, while Congress is corrupt.
